Let us remember: that "casting," and "mirroring," are different things. Casting pushes the content (entirely) to your TV (and/or display), while mirroring displays exactly what appears on your phone/tablet/PC screen.
While not always a common occurrence, when casting... you may occasionally experience some buffering (and/or skipping), while displaying your connected device, in mirroring-mode.
Why does this happen? There may be several reasons:
1. Internet Connection:
If using a smartphone, make sure that it is connected to a Wi-Fi network—not only connected to the mobile-service provider. Radio interference – between your phone, and the nearest mobile tower – is very common; but mostly noticeable when streaming indoors.
If the device in question is already connected to a Wi-Fi network, try restarting it; and the wireless router—if possible.
2. Lack of Processing Power:
If the phone/tablet/PC that you are using – to mirror; to your TV – is too old, it may not be adequate for mirroring—even if it works well, in other scenarios. If so, consider upgrading. What is "too old"? If it cannot keep up, with mirroring, that could be an indication.
While most processing-power issues originate from the source-device (phone/tablet/PC), there is always the possibility: that your TV/receiver may be the issue. If so, restart it/them. The same logic – regarding old devices – applies here, as well.
3. Wireless Router/s:
Some wireless routers – specially Mesh routers – may occasionally generate interference, between your source-device (phone/tablet/PC), and your TV set. If so, try restarting your router/s, and/or changing the operating channel/s. You may need to refer to your owner's manual – and/or watch a video, online – if you are not too tech-savvy.
If this does not help, and you are using more than one wireless router – as it is the case, in Mesh networks – temporarily disconnect the additional (satellite) routers—leaving only the main wireless router on. If this fixes your problem, it means: that the satellite routers are creating the interference—in which case, you may have to delete-and-add each satellite router; to the network (or leave them off.)
